Wine & Dine in the Rogue Valley!

by Vanessa Newman

Lately, I feel like I have been doing more “wine-and-dining” at home; eating the same old meals prepared hurriedly. This is non-productive and with so many amazing wineries that also serve food in the valley, I have no valid excuses.

So, I brushed off a new 2020 list of Rogue Valley Wineries for noshing and tasting vino to get you through winter! ha.

Here are a few to try:

Bella Fiore Winery in Ashland – It is posh with a grand curving staircase that leads you to an expansive space for food and wine pairings. You can also relax downstairs, but the upper level offers a balcony with outdoor seating in the summer. Last year on my Birthday (I will not tell you which one), I selected the “Chateau Slider” and had their “Truffle Fries” paired with a glass of “Bella Arte Rose” – fabulous. A feast for the eyes and soul.

Dancin Vineyards outside Jacksonville – The drive to Dancin meanders through lush greenery alongside lovely vineyards and orchards. Once there, take in spectacular views of the Rogue Valley and Mt. McLoughlin as you sip away on varietals. My husband and I had a date at this vineyard complete with warm spinach and Parmesan dip while I asked him to explain his philosophy on true love, but that is a whole other subject.

2 Hawk Vineyard & Winery in Medford – Rustic but still gourmet and full of opportunities to socialize; this is a winner when it comes to noshing and visiting with friends. Last summer a friend and I sat outdoors around a fire pit on a rare smokeless day. It was a delight. Opened in 2009, it has not been around as long as others, but they are making up for lost time. Try their Pinot Noir and Baked Brie!

Valley View Winery in Ruch – Get out in the Applegate Valley for this historic winery. One of the first in the Rogue Valley and with an interesting display in the front lobby. I will not tell you more and neither will the website. You will just have to take the risk and drive to this one. Glorious scenery, wonderful flavors and snacks too, you will not be disappointed! It is open 11-5 daily.
