Kriselle Cellars Offers Oregon’s Best Wines and Wood-Fired Pizza

Kriselle Cellars Winery is purposefully misnamed after the founder’s wife, Krisell. Scott Steingraber, owner, and wine-maker, thought it would be easier for everyone to pronounce. Either way, Kriselle, is on the tip of Joseph V. Micallef’s tongue.

He is the Forbes Magazine contributor who praised them by calling their Sauvignon Blanc (2015), “…among the most complex white wines produced in Oregon and could rate among the great sauvignon blanc wines in the world.”

The winery began in 2003, but the idea had been fermenting for a lot longer than that as Scott got his start fifteen years ago in the San Francisco Bay area complete with classes at UC Davis. Fast forward to today, and Kriselle produces 4,000 cases of red and white varietals from its own and local vineyards’ grapes. Situated on the highest hill, the tasting room offers what one would expect in an Oregon winery: amazing vistas and award-winning wines.

“We focus our attention on varieties that do well in southern Oregon’s warm summers — Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Tempranillo. Our wines are made in a style that emphasizes the varietal character of the fruit augmented by subtle oak, vanilla, and dried berry flavors from oak barrel aging.”

For a special treat at the tasting room, you can order wood-fired pizzas on Saturdays and Sundays only to accompany your favorite wine. If you want to visit the tasting room often, consider becoming part of the “Cellar society,” a membership program with perks like complimentary wine tasting, discounts on purchases, and access to special events. See below for an upcoming pairing event happening soon.
