Car Crashes into Gold Hill Restaurant

A woman was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after crashing her car into a Gold Hill restaurant.  Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies are investigating the incident, which happened during lunch hour.

On July 2, 2019, at 12:06 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call reporting a car had crashed into the Figaro’s Pizza store located at 175 Second Ave., Gold Hill.  The driver was initially trapped inside the vehicle, which came to rest almost entirely inside the restaurant.  Deputies and personnel from Fire District 3 responded to the scene and helped the driver from the vehicle.

Deputies say the vehicle was westbound on Second Avenue when it left the roadway and continued through the parking lot and into the restaurant.  The driver, a 68-year-old woman, was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center by Mercy Flights ambulance with unknown injuries.  Two dogs in the vehicle were not injured.

Employees and patrons were inside the restaurant when the crash occurred.  Two people received abrasions after being struck by debris but did not require medical transport.  Vehicles parked outside the restaurant received minor damage from debris.

The crash remains under investigation.  No further information is available for release at this time.
