74% OF U.S. HOMES HAVE A NETFLIX, HULU, OR AMAZON PRIME SUBSCRIPTION
As more and more people take the plunge to cut the cord, streaming subscriptions are on the rise. This is made evident by a new study (Leichtman Research Group) which reports that a whopping 74% of American households subscribe to either Amazon Prime, Hulu, or Netflix.
… The survey on subscription video on-demand (SVOD) services marks a 22% uptick from the reported 52% in 2015 and a 10% uptick from 2017.
FIRST TRAILER FOR HBO’S BELICHICK & SABAN: THE ART OF COACHING
Bill Belichick and Nick Saban once spent four seasons together on the same coaching staff with the Cleveland Browns in the 1990s. The two have since gone their separate ways, with each putting together arguably the greatest head coaching legacies in their respective fields. Now, they are reuniting to share some of their secrets. HBO has delivered a trailer for the documentary Belichick & Saban: The Art of Coaching, which sees the two legendary coaches sit down together and talk about coaching. • VIDEO
… Belichick has eight Super Bowl rings (as a head coach and defensive coordinator), and Saban has six college national championships.
… The 90-minute feature will premiere on HBO on December 10.
“IT” MOVIE SUPERCUT MIGHT HAPPEN
The prospect of an It supercut, combining the first film and the upcoming It Chapter Two, has already been teased by the films’ director (Andy Muschietti) and now he says he’s in talks with the studio to make it happen. The end result would run well over six hours, which would include all of the scenes that were cut for length purposes.
AMERICAN IDOL CONTESTANT HALEY SMITH DIES IN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT
Haley Smith, who appeared as a contestant on American Idol in Season 11, died in a motorcycle accident in Maine. She was 26.
… Smith impressed American Idol judges in 2012 with her rendition of Rufus and Chaka Khan’s Tell Me Something Good in her Colorado audition at the age of 18. She earned a ticket to Hollywood, but was ultimately sent home from the competition in the second round.
MELISSA BENOIST AND CHRIS WOOD ARE MARRIED
Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood have tied the knot. The Supergirl couple married on Sunday at a private estate in California. Wood, 31, and Benoist, 30, announced their engagement on social media in February. Her ring, designed by Jennifer Meyer, is estimated to be worth $100,000.
FANS THINK BEYONCÉ IS PREGNANT
Fans are convinced that Beyoncé is pregnant with her fourth child after footage of her appearing curvier than usual surfaced on Sunday.
DISNEY WORLD TO CLOSE EARLY TODAY
With Hurricane Dorian at the Florida coast, Walt Disney World will close early today (Tuesday). The company said on Monday that both the Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot would close at 3 PM ET, with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom shutting down at 2 PM ET. Both ESPN’s Wide World of Sports and Blizzard Beach Water Park will be the closed the entire day. Disney resort hotels will remain open.
BILL AND TED 3 WRAPS FILMING
Bill and Ted 3, aka Bill and Ted Face the Music, just wrapped filming. Bill and Ted Face the Music hits theaters on August 21, 2021.

Wyatt Russell is married. The 33-year-old actor and son of Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell married his longtime love Meredith Hagner over the weekend at Hawn’s house in Aspen, Colorado.
MILES TELLER MARRIES
Miles Teller married his longtime girlfriend over the weekend. Miles and Keleigh Sperry began dating in 2013 after meeting at a Grammys afterparty and became engaged in August 2017 while on a safari trip in South Africa.

KEVIN HART’S WIFE SAYS ‘HE’S GREAT’ AFTER CAR CRASH
Kevin Hart‘s wife, Eniko Parrish, gave an update on her husband’s health after he was involved in a major car crash early Sunday and underwent surgery. Outside the hospital where he’s recovering, she told reporters: “He’s great. He’s going to be just fine.” She also shared that Kevin is awake and in good spirits.
… Hart suffered major back injuries after a friend (Jared Black), who was driving the comedian’s 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, veered off a Los Angeles highway, crashed through a wooden fence and fell into a gully.
ORIGINAL GHOSTBUSTERS RETURNING TO THEATERS, TICKETS ON SALE NOW
The original Ghostbusters is coming back to theaters in October. The event will mark the 35th anniversary of the comedy classic. The film will air in select theaters on Sunday, October 6 and Thursday, October 10. Attendees will also get to see a new introduction from cast members and newly uncovered alternate takes from some of the film’s classic scenes.
… The original was released June 8, 1984. A new Ghostbusters film is coming out in 2020 with some of the original cast having parts.
TSA SAYS THIS STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE SOUVENIR WILL NOT BE WELCOME ON FLIGHTS
Star Wars fans have had a lot to cheer about lately. There’s a new Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker trailer, the announcement of The Mandalorian TV series, and the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney Parks. With all that good news to rejoice in, Star Wars fans should be able to handle a disappointing development.
… A Twitter user submitted an inquiry to the always helpful (and always fascinating) AskTSA Twitter account asking whether Coca-Cola’s specially designed bottles for the new Disney theme park would be allows on planes. After receiving the query, the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) used the opportunity to remind flyers that anything resembling an explosive device is not allowed on planes. Unfortunately for Star Wars fans hoping to bring home a souvenir from Batuu world at Galaxy’s Edge, that includes the new Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite bottles that were designed to look like thermal detonators.
SHARK TANK STAR INVOLVED IN FATAL BOAT CRASH
Canadian businessman and reality Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary was involved in a fatal boating incident over the weekend. Two people died, including one woman who succumbed to her injuries in hospital following the two vessel collision. Three other people on the boats involved were injured, treated and released from hospital. Ontario police are currently investigating the incident. A 64-year old American man from Florida was killed at the scene and a 48-year-old woman from Ontario died in hospital on Tuesday. The collision took place on a lake in southern Ontario on Saturday about 11:30 PM.
… In a statement O’Leary said: “On late Saturday night I was a passenger in a boat that was involved in a tragic collision with another watercraft that had no navigation lights on and then fled the scene.” He offered his “heartfelt prayers and condolences to the victims, the families and those affected by this loss” and said he was fully co-operating with the investigating authorities.
