The Oregon Ducks defeated the UCLA Bruins on Saturday at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, 38-35, utilizing a strong second half to stop a day long effort from UCLA and backup quarterback Chase Griffin. Despite the Bruins’ best efforts, the Ducks did enough to stay ahead in the second half in their victory.
The Ducks were able to throw for 189 in the second half but were held to just 69 rushing yards in the final two quarters, after they had previously led the nation in average rushing yards in the second half.

The college football weekend had little drama but in the end, it resulted in minimal shakeup in the Amway Coaches Poll.
Alabama’s game did not involve much of said drama, however, and the Crimson Tide easily retain the No. 1 spot. The Tide showed no signs of rust from a two-week hiatus in their romp past Kentucky. They picked up 59 of 62 first-place votes.
Notre Dame, which had the weekend off, retains the No. 2 position with a pair of first-place nods.
Ohio State remains No. 3 with the remaining No. 1 vote, but the Buckeyes had to stave off a furious rally from Indiana to hang on to their position. The voters were kind to Hoosiers, who fall only two places to No. 12.

Eugene’s own, Justin Herbert had another great game for the L A Chargers at home, this time over the New York Jets, winning 34-28.
The Chargers’ inability to put teams away was tested again Sunday, and this time they finally passed. Leading by 18 points late in the third quarter, they needed a defensive stop in the final two minutes to beat the winless New York Jets 34-28 at SoFi Stadium. The Chargers move to 3-7 on the season, while the Jets fell to 0-10.
Gone for the season is Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. He was carted off from Sunday’s game against the Washington Football Team with a knee injury that he later indicated he believes will rule him out for the remainder of the season.
On a third-and-2 play in the third quarter, Burrow was hit low by Jonathan Allen and high by Montez Sweat after throwing an incompletion intended for wide receiver Tyler Boyd. Burrow clutched his left knee before being leaving on a cart.
Players from both teams surrounded Burrow to show support as the quarterback was being loaded onto the cart and taken away.
Cincinnati ruled Burrow out for the remainder of the game shortly after the injury. Burrow did not reveal the exact nature of his injury but said “see ya next year” in a tweet later on Sunday.
