Summer Concerts in the Park

What are your favorite sounds of summer?

Outdoor live music has got to be in the top three, and fill in the blank with your favorite band or musician! There are several local venues to choose from; we are fortunate to have the wonderful Britt Festival, tucked on the hill of Jacksonville next to the beautiful Peter Britt Gardens.

But if you are looking for a casual outdoor concert with no tickets or admissions fee required, then what? You might check out Medford’s Summer Concert Series. They are free and fun for the entire family; bring your dog! But pets do need to be on a leash.

The evening we attended, August 23rd, Blue Lightning performed. They started promptly at 6 pm and got everybody groovin’ right away. They happened to play “Happy,” a song by Pharrell Williams; it is one of my favorite contemporary dance tunes.

Where: The Medford Summer Concert Series features music at the Bear Creek Park Amphitheater in June and July, as well as Pear Blossom Park at the Commons, in August. Pear Blossom Park can be found at 312 E Fourth Street in Medford. Bring a blanket, relax and enjoy the glorious summer evening listening to some great tunes while the summer heat of the day dissipates. You have one last chance to catch it; August 30th is the last one in the series, and features “The Deadlies”.

The Medford Summer Concert Series 2019 is hosted by
 Medford Parks and Recreation
 Red Robin Gourmet Burgers
 Rogue Regency Inn & Suites
 The Deadlies
 Farmers Insurance – Tacchini Agency
 The Human Bean Jackson County

FOOD AND BEVERAGES: You may bring a picnic of course. In addition, two food trucks were parked nearby, on the street, one selling burgers and fries, and another selling craft beer; attendees were instructed to enjoy the alcoholic beverages close to the food truck area only.

WHAT TO EXPECT: It was not crowded. One family, there was having a birthday celebration at a large picnic table toward the back of the lawn. Another family brought a small tent for the children to play in on the grass while their parents relaxed in adjacent lawn chairs. Loyal band fans sat up front close to the stage. And across the street, couples sat at patio café tables, enjoying the free concert from their preferred vantage point.

Join in the fun on Friday, August 30, 2019, at 6:00 pm with The Deadlies, https://www.facebook.com/therealDeadlies/
