One of America’s favorites, singer Eddie Money, who had major music chart success in the 70s and 80s with songs such as Two Tickets to Paradise and Take Me Home Tonight, has died at the age of 70.
Money released 11 albums and sold nearly 30 million records in a career that spanned four decades. He also starred in Real Money, a reality series that debuted last year.
Money had just revealed within the last month that he stage four oesophageal cancer.
The Money family released a statement saying: “It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. It’s so hard to imagine our world without him. However he will live on forever through his music.”
Eddie was born Edward Joseph Mahoney in Brooklyn, New York in 1949, released his first, self-titled album in 1977. It sold more than two million copies and spawned hits such as Baby Hold On.
He took advantage of the growth of MTV in the early 80s and after a dip in sales returned with the highly successful Can’t Hold Back album in 1986.
Take Me Home Tonight, a duet with Ronnie Spector from that album, was his biggest singles chart success, reaching number four in the US.
Money revealed his cancer diagnosis on 24 August in a TV clip of his reality show, Real Money, which he was really enjoying with his family.
“I thought I was just going in to get a check-up, and he told me I got cancer,” he says in the clip.
Eddie Money was 70 and is survived by his wife and five children.

AUTHOR J.K. ROWLING MAKES $19 DONATION

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has made a substantial donation
for research into the treatment of multiple sclerosis at a center named after
her late mother. The donation will be used for new facilities at a research
center based at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. The author’s mother
suffered from the disease and died at the age of 45. The new gift follows a
major donation Rowling made in 2010 that started the Anne Rowling clinic at the
university.
KEVIN HART RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL _ Kevin Hart was released from a California hospital on Wednesday, about 10 days after he fractured his spine in three places in a car crash. The actor and comedian is now in a live-in rehab facility and is completing physical therapy. He’ll be in the rehab facility for at least a week, according to TMZ.
ADELE FILES FOR DIVORCE _ Adele is filed for divorce from Simon Konecki on Thursday. In April 2019, a rep for Adele announced she and her partner of at least eight years had gone their separate ways. Referencing Adele and Simon’s 6-year-old son Angelo, the statement read in part, “They are committed to raising their son together lovingly.”
… A source said (to E! News) the exes experienced a shift in lifestyles: “She became a bigger and bigger star, and he was okay [with] being in the background, but as she got bigger and had massive tours and intense schedules, they just grew apart.”
KRISTIN CAVALLARI RESPONDS TO BACKLASH OVER 9/11 INSTAGRAM POST _ Kristin Cavallari heard the backlash about her most recent Instagram post loud and clear. The Very Cavallari star has fired the social media staffer who posted an inappropriate Instagram message under her name with a sentiment about New York City on the 18th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
… Cavallari fired the employee after a photo of the reality star wearing a low-cut black dress while standing on a New York City sidewalk was posted on the 9/11 anniversary with the following caption: “NYC for 24hrs. And what a time to be here… always remember.” Tagged in the photo are multiple fashion designers, including Cavallari’s own brand, along with the star’s stylist and her makeup artist.
… Cavallari’s team reportedly sent the fashion photo with the requested caption “24 hours in New York City.” But for some unknown reason, the social media staffer posted the image with a modified caption without Cavallari’s knowledge while the reality star stepped away for a fitting.
The backlash was immediate for Cavallari, who was blasted by some of her 3.7 million social media followers who thought she approved the cringe-worthy post.
SNL ADDS FIRST ASIAN CAST MEMBER FOR 45th SEASON _ Saturday Night Live has added its first Asian cast member. The late-night sketch comedy series announced Thursday that Bowen Yang, who joined the show as a staff writer last year, was among three new hires for Season 45. The promotion of Yang, who is of Chinese heritage, makes him the series’ first East Asian full-time cast member.
… Yang co-hosts the podcast, Las Culturistas, and entertains on comedy club stages. Yang was also one of the writers of the 2019 Golden Globes.
HBO WILL TRACE THE TARGARYENS’ HISTORY _ Surprising no one, HBO is developing yet another series set in the Game of Thrones universe. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will take place 300 years before the flagship series and delve into the storied history of House Targaryen.
… This new series will primarily draw influence from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, which was published last year. That book was released as a companion to A Song of Ice and Fire and recounted several Targaryen family exploits, starting with Aegon I’s conquest of Westeros’ Seven Kingdoms.
ALICIA SILVERSTONE IS CALLING OUT STARBUCKS FOR MILK ALTERNATIVE CHARGES _ If you follow Alicia Silverstone on social media then you already know that she cares deeply about the environment. One company, though, that she doesn’t think shares her passion about it is Starbucks. Alicia hopped on Twitter to give a few suggestions to the global coffee chain, starting with their use of reusable cups. She brings her own cup but the company makes the drink in a typical paper cup and then pours it into a reusable cup.
… She also questioned why milk alternatives are more expensive: “I’m always frustrated by extra charges for non-dairy milk. Y should we be penalized 4 making the eco-choice? It would be amazing for @Starbucks to lead the way &consider enviro externalities associated w the dairy industry by having dairy cost + or at least = plantmilk fees.” Of course, it doesn’t take an economist to realize there are different production costs for different types of milk.
WRINKLES THE CLOWN IS A REAL-LIFE PENNYWISE _ If you liked the It movies, get ready to meet Wrinkles the Clown on October 4. Wrinkles is a real-life Pennywise, the clown star in the It movies.
… In 2014, a couple of fed-up parents in southern Florida paid Wrinkles the Clown to hide under their unruly daughter’s bed. Wrinkles was to scare her so that they could spend the rest of her young life threatening to bring him back if she ever put another toe out of line. The video of the scare-for-hire went viral, and Wrinkles’ popularity skyrocketed. Before long, his voicemail was flooded with messages from other exasperated parents.
… On October 4 we’re getting a new documentary, titled Wrinkles the Clown, about the man behind the mask. The film features audio recordings of messages left for Wrinkles, viral video sightings, reactions from locals and law enforcement officials — and even an interview with Wrinkles himself. • TRAILER
… Wrinkles is played by a divorced Rhode Island native and military veteran who’s now around 70 years old. He took up professional clowning after retiring to Florida and realizing he didn’t want to golf, play shuffleboard, or lounge around a country club like so many of his fellow retirees.
JENNA FISCHER AND ANGELA KINSEY LAUNCHING OFFICE PODCAST _ A new podcast from former Office stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey in on the way. Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, who played Pam Beesly and Angela Martin on the NBC comedy, will be teaming up for Office Ladies, “the ultimate podcast for nostalgic fans.”
… Each week the duo, who are best friends in real life, will break down an episode of The Office and provide behind-the-scenes stories and answer questions from listeners. The podcast premieres October 16.
… Last year a podcast for M*A*S*H fans launched and it features Jeff Maxwell, who played Private Igor on the beloved sitcom.
ANSON WILLIAMS FILES FOR DIVORCE _ Anson Williams — famous for playing Potsie Weber on Happy Days — has filed for divorce. Anson filed from his wife, Jackie Williams, Wednesday after more than 20 years of marriage. Anson and Jackie tied the knot back way back in 1988, and they have 4 children together.
