Spark Space STEM Programs at Central Point and White City Libraries

Spark Space is a digital play space and homework help center for kids and teens, located at the Central Point and White City Libraries. Spark Space features cutting-edge resources in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and the digital arts, with special programming to encourage kids and teens to learn, play, and create.

This fall, school-age youth are invited to attend free Spark Space STEM programs at the Central Point Library, 116 South Third Street, and White City Library, 3143 Avenue C, including:

Spark Space Maker Project, K-12 grade at the Central Point Library

  • Wednesday, September 4 from 2:00–4:00 p.m.
  • Wednesdays, October 2 & 16 from 2:00–4:00 p.m.
  • Wednesdays, November 6 & 20 from 2:00–4:00 p.m.

Build a fun maker project with electronics, cardboard, robotics and more!

Spark Space RIGAMAJIG Maze with Blue Bots!, 8+ YRS at the White City Library

  • Wednesday, September 4 from 2:00–3:00 p.m.

Construct a maze using RIGAMAJIG, then see who can program a Blue-Bot to navigate it successfully! Pre-registration required.

Spark Space Mini Sphero Obstacle Course at the White City Library

  • Tuesday, September 10 from 3:30–4:30 p.m.

Design and build your own obstacle course, and learn to program the Sphero to run the course.

Spark Space LEGO WeDo Collaboration Race, 10+ YRS at the White City Library

  • Wednesday, October 2 from 2:00–3:00 p.m.

Connect LEGO WeDo models and form teams to race each other! Pre-registration required.

Spark Space Bumper Bots, 6+ YRS at the White City Library

  • Tuesday, October 8 from 3:30–4:30 p.m.

Build bumper bots that drive around in an arena and joust with each other.

Spark Space LEGO Mindstorms Robotics, 10–14 YRS at the Central Point Library

  • Thursday, October 24 from 3:30–5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 21 from 3:30–5:00 p.m.

Build a robot using LEGO Mindstorms, then program it to complete missions. Pre-registration required.

Spark Space Play-Doh, Makey-Makey, and Ms. Pac-Man—Oh My!, 5+ YRS at the White City Library

  • Wednesday, November 6 from 2:00–3:00 p.m.

Let’s figure out how to play Ms. Pac-Man on the computer using playdough for a controller! We’ll also have some trial-and-error fun with Makey-Makey. Pre-registration required.

Spark Space Bowling Bots, 6+ YRS at the White City Library

  • Tuesday, November 12 from 3:30–4:30 p.m.

Learn to program Blue-Bots to bowl. Highest score wins!
